Get started

Four steps to your first message

Syncup starts fresh. Your old chats stay in the old SyncUp, which you can still open to look things up.

1

Download and install

Pick your computer above.

MacOpen the DMG and drag Syncup to your Desktop first. Rename it to Syncup Desktop, then move it into Applications. This keeps the old SyncUp app, which has the same name, from being replaced.
WindowsRun the installer. It installs for your account and opens Syncup when it finishes.
2

Open it the first time

The app isn't signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so your computer asks once.

MacRight-click the app and choose Open, then Open again. If it still refuses: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway.
WindowsIf you see "Windows protected your PC", choose More info, then Run anyway.
3

Accept your invitation

Open the invitation email from Syncup and click the link. Syncup opens and asks you to set a password. The link works for 7 days; if it has expired, ask an admin to send a new one.

4

Say hello

Your groups appear on the left. Press ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl K on Windows to find people, groups and messages.

Help

Common questions

My Mac says Syncup can't be opened

The app isn't signed by Apple yet. Right-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. Or go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Windows says it protected my PC

Choose More info, then Run anyway. This appears because the installer isn't signed yet.

I haven't received an invitation

Invitations go out by email on launch day. Check your spam folder; if it isn't there, ask an admin to invite you again.

My invitation link expired

Links last 7 days. Ask an admin to invite you again from the admin console.

I forgot my password

Ask an admin to reset it from Admin console > Users.

Where are my old chats?

Syncup starts fresh. Your old messages, groups and files stay in the old SyncUp, which stays open for looking things up until the date we announce.

Calls connect but I can't hear or see anyone

Some office networks block direct calls. Try another network and tell the tech team.

Is there a phone app?

Not yet. Syncup is for Mac and Windows.

How do I update?

You don't need to. Syncup downloads updates in the background; when it says "Update ready", quit and reopen it.

Ready when your invitation arrives

Install Syncup now, and you'll be one click from your team when the email comes.
